Oh Woe!

I've got some line laid on breeze blocks which have a concrete 'footing' (yes, almost certainly over-engineered!), with other sections running on decking boards covered with roofing felt. The garden is heavy clay (we had to go down 3 metres for our extension footings ) and seems to shift a lot in places -I'm currently planning a re-lay on a section that looks to have dropped 25mm or so over four years). I have to say that whilst I like the idea of laying a blockwork base, I'm happier with the timber sections; the latter are also easier to level.

I appreciate you are in the trade.

I was quoted "TREATED DECKING TIMBER 35X148X3.6M (FIN32X144MM)" @ £ 1.95/M + VAT £ 2.35/M incl. on 29.06.2016.That is without an account, just asking for a quote.

By my reckoning that is £ 11.43/ea/4.8M delivered incl VAT.

With an account it is £ 10.87/4.8M incl. VAT delivered quoted on 08.06.2016.

If you would like back up please give me an e mail address and I will send copy quotes on.

If the current TP prices are so awful -

Who can you suggest as a good timber merchant near to Keith T or to ME6 5RG who can do Tanalith treated 150 x 38mm decking delivered at £ 15.00/each @ 4.8M please?

Thanks for all the details here and above. I did use similar methods to the one your suggested earlier the quality of the decking I used must be suspect. We store the NWGscale layout atva timber yard which has pressure vessels for treating timber and so I may be able to get la decent quote.
I have used horticultural grit extensively on and under the double track layout layout, to date around or above 1/2ton of the stuff!
