Due to the ongoing Human Malware Infection and current incarceration then the only sensible thing was build the new line.

All other building projects having been completed since moving to the new premises a couple of years ago. I was given the go ahead by the Clerk of Works.

After much deliberation over the winter months I decided that the line would be built as per the Shackletons High Seat principle as I am getting on a bit.

Therefore an elevated railway seemed the best prospect.

After looking at various methods/options and the state of wallet I decided that treated timber trackbed was the way to go.

The track will be a fairly simple dogbone with station and passing loops in the middle allowing for operation of up to 3 train consists initially.

Its a fairly long run from one end t'other and I am using LGB R3 as a minimum so allowing for smooth operation.

Operation will be analogue DC, DCC and live steam.

I am hoping to get something running in the next few weeks weather permitting.

What an impressive raised trackbed - congratulations! And the gravel bags indicate that there is much more work to be done.
Concerning the station it may be worth to have a look on the prototypical situation: The old station SORGE (Harz-Region), where the Nordhausen-Wernigeroder Eisenbahn (NWE, north-south) was connected with the Südharz-Eisenbahn (SHE - running east-west). This would allow you to separate the tracks from/to the return loops in 2 different heights - in the same station. Here is The track plan

Interesting idea. At some time I hope to include a rack line to the far end of the line so that would be worth considering. Need to get some more track first.

Points are now motorised and I am testing the layout to see if all is ok.

Here are some more pics

By the way has anybody had problems with the R3 point blades.
I have one set which has caused problems with vans in the pics jumping on it.
I have solved it by carefully thinning the blade down and locking the Lgb swivelling axles on the vans

Had the occasional problem, my solution was to file the top of the blade to give a chamfer into the stock rail. Appeared to work ok without any revisions to rolling stock except for the odd troublesome one with Bachmann Metal Wheels that was atributed to a wobbly wheel putting it slightly out of gauge on part of it’s circumference.

Hi Andy - looks like your collection is begging for a 24450!

You'll have to get your own though - I'm not offering!;)

I like what you've got going. As I age I may begin to regret not having more elevated track myself. Thankfully, it's not a problem yet!
