Does anyone know if there is a model for 45mm gauge of any of the four Zillertal "Lupo" diesels?

Lilliput do HOe model but I can't find anything G scale.
I suspect it will have to be scratch build which doesn't look to be too difficult as they are basically boxes on wheels.

Thanks,

I'm sure that I've seen one of these in G scale in one of the German language magazines at some point - I know that's not very helpful, but there just MIGHT be a small-production kit of one out there....

Hmmm, no luck searching for it... either my Google-Fu is weak today, or my memory is playing tricks on me (or quite possibly both!).

Probably not a chance at the moment. But it is just a Box, try a build with a Couple of LGB Bogies, plastic or Wood or even Cardboard. Not hard, you could save Buckets of Dosh and learn some Building. It is just a Box! Yorur first move into another world! Just try, what could go wrong?

Nothing apart from losing a few fingertips trying to cut plasticard in a straight line... :-)

Glad I'm not the only one who has trouble with 'straight', 'square', 'same length'..
At least you have the superglue handy, to stick the fingertips back on,,
;)

You need a new chopper, Phil (oo-er Missus.....)!

Specifically, a Chopper II from Northwest Shortline: I've had one for a few years and it is a wonderful tool.....

Brilliant for cutting strip and rod material (plastic and wood), getting all your cut bits the same length and ensuring 90 degree cuts.

Oh, and for cutting sheet plasticard, a metal rule with a safety barrier edge plus a ready supply of new scalpel blades!

Jon.

Going to need a blummin big version of the Chopper to build that ;)

The big bits are what the scalpel and a good steel straightedge are for...... the Chopper is for making sure detail parts are square and all the same length where they are supposed to be! ;)

I have one of those Wallpaper Rulers with a Handle, great for safe secure cutting.

Not aware of anyone making these in G - I'm guessing that the preferred scale is 1:22.5 even though the gauge would be wrong, it's a large loco anyway. I might have missed someone making kits or small numbers, have to admit my German googlefu (deutschgoogleer?) isn't up to much today.

Scratch building doesn't look too hard, though there are plenty of fiddly surface details that might be a bit fragile. I'm pretty sure Continental modeller carried drawings when the first one was introduced and that one of the Piko blocks was close to the required dimensions. But I can't remember which issue to check that in...

Happy New Year

Thanks Jonathan. There is a side elevation drawing in a PDF on the Zillertalbahn web site which gives the main dimensions. There is a 2000 mm wheel base = 89mm at 1:22.5 so the PIKO and Aristocraft bogies are a bit long. The USA Trains blocks are a bit closer. If I do this I will probably use one of my LGB Bo-Bo diesels as a base and just build the body. Probably my V100. Still at the pondering stage. Cheers Daved13.jpg
