Your Invitation

We would like to take this opportunity to invite you to participate in the new Llangollen Garden Railway Festival to be held on Saturday 30th May 2020 at the Llangollen Royal International Pavilion.
Our aim is to be one of the premier Multi Gauge Garden Railway Shows in the UK and for this reason the World-famous Llangollen Royal International Pavilion was chosen as the venue as it is modern and well-appointed offering a wide range of excellent facilities. We are already getting a lot of bookings and interest from traders of all gauges ... 16mm, Gauges 1 and 3, G Scale etc ie ..all that sell to Garden Railway (outdoor or indoor larger scale) enthusiasts.
We are very keen to get as many Traders, Layouts, Societies and Heritage Railways ... and as such would appreciate your presence. Attached is an Application Form on which to book your stand. As a first-year incentive we are offering an ‘Early Bird’ deal so please see the notes attached to the form. There will be extensive advertising in all publications of relevant Gauges, and a new website is currently under construction. We have invited a number of outstanding layouts of various scales to attend and further announcements will follow.

Llangollen
This unique venue is just a short distance from Llangollen town centre, nestling in the glorious countryside of the Dee Valley an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty,
Llangollen’s transport heritage is such that the area surrounding the local canal is designated a World Heritage Site. Llangollen Railway is the only standard gauge Heritage railway in North Wales and is located beside the historic Dee Bridge in the centre of Llangollen town. The journey is a relaxing 10 miles travelling through the stunning Dee Valley to the lovely town of Corwen the crossroads of North Wales. Journeys on the steam railway through the glorious Dee Valley, or by horse-drawn canal boat to the jaw-dropping Pontcysyllte aqueduct, are an unforgettable experience for all visitors.

The Location
Post Code LL20 8SW

By car: Just 30-40 minutes from major motorways
90 minutes from Manchester and Birmingham, 60 minutes from Liverpool
By train: Mainline railway station at nearby Ruabon
By bus: Regular service from Wrexham via Ruabon Railway station.

We do hope that you will find your participation profitable and rewarding at this key event

I will add, I am helping with the advertising of the show, and helping out with the running, we are a group of Garden railway operators who wish to put on a great festival of Garden Railways in all scales and sizes, we are looking for traders, and layouts and ride on railways.. Please get in touch, if you think you can help, or know something we are missing.

Interesting. Llangollen, an hour's very scenic drive from that hub of narrow gauge heaven, Porthmadog. That could be attractive to the 16 mm and 7/8ths community.

Package holiday suggestion - Let's see, start with the W&L, on to the VoR and Aberystwyth cliff railway, Then to the Talyllyn and Corris, don't forget the Fairbourn. Carry on to Porthmadog for the WHR/WHHR and Ffestiniog and perhaps a ride on the Conwy line. Then on to the Snowdon Mountain, Llanberis and Bala lakeside lines. Finish off at Llangollen for a Std gauge fix and the show. Then blow it all on live steam scale representations of nearly all you have ridden on for the past few days. Well, that's the pension fund spent. Damn you chancellor Osborne and your pensions reformations :D Oh, nearly forgot, the Great Orme Tramway. Max

Of course you can Mike. One for Ffestiniog travel to arrange ? You could even start your trip from Birmingham by rail, go to the W&L and on to Aberystwyth for the VoR and then, using the Cambrian coast line, on to Tywyn, Fairbourn and Porthmadog. You then need to hire a car to do the rest. A gricer's heaven. I might try it myself. Max

Edit - you could even use the Ffestiniog to link to the Conwy valley line to get to the Great Orme tramway in Llandudno. Very environmentally friendly....if you discount all the coal used instead of IC fuel ;)

Might there be a room, where a 'society' could hold a meeting? -

The conference room is, if required for a meeting such as an AGM, on the second floor so away from the noise of the show but as there is a lift it is easy access.

You should advertise it in gardenrails.org quite a community there with some overlap with gscalecentral.net
