Just had a Facebook Llangollen Railway post, It seems that there's a Children's Caracter called "Bluey" (no, me neither) at Corwen and it looks like the steam services are for that event,
There is a Diesel service, but that is only going as far as Glyndyfrdwy, class 31271 on Sat, Class14 9525 on Sunday.

We were looking forward to a train ride on Sunday after the show. We knew about the kids event at Corwen with no through running. So we looked further afield. It seems that most preserved railways within 2 hours of Llangollen are only running a simple service, which makes a day trip rather disappointing.
So we have settled on the short ride on the Llangollen railway. We thought it might be a railcar. But a teddy bear?

Just found my ticket for Llangollen show………..unfortunately, it’s for last years show! Glad we didn’t book to go again this year as my wife fell in the garden on Monday and is now suffering with a broken rib!
Good luck all, I thought it was a great show, last year………enjoy!

Tanker man Tanker man Hope 'Mrs Tanker man' is not too uncomfortable, and has a speedy recovery..

Take it easy, and think about us in the 'liquid sunshine' that is forecast for the weekend.. :worried:

Good morning all.

As I sit here in our camper van, and can report that as the last of the traders arrive to set up for the day, that the rain has stopped and the mist has cleared. There are a good number of G scale layouts around the venue ready to entertain the public later in the day, along with 16mm, 0 gauge, etc. layouts. Our own layout is all up and was test run before we left for dinner last night. I think this is a first that we have nothing left to do on the morning of the exhibition ! Don't forget that there are more traders etc. upstairs as well as the two main halls. I look forward to seeing some of you later in the day, and hope anyone of you who comes will have a good day here.

Went along this morning. Great to see PhilP again and also meet Tac and DickyC and sample the barabrith,

Bought a couple of books - a reprint of the Hunslet Ng loco catalogue and a fascinating book - "The Anatomy of a Garratt" packed with detailed drawings of the K1. Also bought twenty fine paintbrushes for figure painting for £10. A bargain!

Surprised it wasn't as well attended as the last time I went. Maybe the rain kept people away?

Upstairs? Must've missed that.

Yes that was the complaint last year that no one knew about upstairs, and it was the same again today as your have to "leave" the foyer to get to it. I said they should have a "rack railway" on the way up to draw people in !

Nice to meet you Tac, mike and Rik, Bara-brith was excellent, do thank your good wife Tac.

Another MOB wagon for the collection (yellow Cardinal) nd a rather run down 2nd hand Pola Bavarian Church from the Footplate "jumble sale" all purchased as the place dies off and the retailers were happy with a bargain haggle ! Plus the usual top up of electrical bits from PhilP PhilP stand.

Need more Swiss stuff at these events....

Dammit. Did I miss Mike. Sorry. A few years when we last met up, when the PLR was in its infancy....

I never got to venture upstairs.. - I meant to, but never had a chance.

A PA announcement, every hour to say there is more upstairs... Would be a good idea.
As would:
1. Venue Staff, to get the electrics to work, so Keith and crew are not peeing about running extra extension leads!
2. A big label on the switch for the row of four pairs of 'house lights' for dull mornings.

But other than that, excellent support from the volunteers, and nice to say 'hello' to those same faces.

3802 GWR 2-8-0 on duty today presumably on the Bluey Trains
Saw it this evening running round the carriages at Llangollen. Even better the train appeared to be made up of ex Eastern Region lavatory suburban compartment coaches that I was familiar with as a young sprog B397969E-B391-4AE3-B9F8-FE993D8FD753.jpeg
