It would be nice to find out what the "multi-purpose" socket does, especially since the example picture on the other threads shows something plugged into it.

On the rear of many LGB loco's are sockets, ostensibly, to supply power for coach-lighting..
If you remove the track connections on a loco, it can also be used as a 'fast and dirty' way of feeding battery-power into a loco for test purposes..
I’m new… bought an LGB 2080D and want to convert to battery power and RC using Piko 35040. 2080D has 2 circuit boards, one in front of the cab and the other in the “coal bin,” connected by a ribbon cable (4 wires). I don’t see how to remove the rear circuit board to have access to rear lights and backup light. Any help greatly appreciated.This diagram for both single and twin motor locos seems to have been well received on another thread.
