LGB New Items 2018 Brochure

Old and new but the new rhb 2-8-0

Also, the picture (of the LGB one) looks like metal valve gear!

Ah of course!

That was a Kiss model previously wasn't it?

Probably above my pay grade though....
It was also a Magnus model, again expensive and I believe fragile. I have a Magnus catalogue which shows the Loco and quite an array of RhB stock.

It looks like I'm the only person who wants the branded 50th anniversary stuff. I do have my excuses ready....
No need you seem to have cracked the secret, enjoy yourself :)
I have to admit I do rather like some of it but it's just too expensive for a what the heck train when there's other stuff I really want that will get used more.
Enjoy the holiday :)

The Factory Train Stainz has all the valve gear parts doing their moving thing plus MFX, sound, and pulsed smoke. I am ordering one!

I would rather have had the Franzburg green version, but I started this hobby too late!

Yes, but that's a Franzburg, not a Stainz...... two very different models (aside from both being 0-4-0s!). ;)

Jon.

It looks like I'm the only person who wants the branded 50th anniversary stuff. I do have my excuses ready... I love Stainz engines (possibly a girl-thing!) and have quite a few, so a gold one would be different. Also, I'm the same age as LGB, so it's my 50th this year too. ("celebrating" (?) this milestone next month on the Glacier Express). My only complaint about the engine is it doesn't have the years on (1968 - 2018) like the wagons do. I also like the Christmas engine, but I've already got several Christmas items and there's a limit to how many I can fit under the Christmas tree and they spend 11 months each year in the loft.

You can get a gold Stainz now from Modell-land.de :

Rather fancied the fact that the Allegra red railcar was 'still available'. Checked it out, stopped reading when I saw two words, traction tyres, in the description...... I don't want one now.

..but oh how I'd love to go back there, again.

I’m new to G scale. I’ve seen a few people say that they don’t like traction tires. Would you kindly explain that for me?

One fun thing that one can do with the Allegra is install a drop-in pair of Massoth Train Destination Displays and have live displays on the front and side!

They fall off, pick up anything sticky on the track, and spread it everywhere.

I have never had problems with traction tyres and in 20+ years have never had to replace one on any of my large locos - the secret is not to let the track get too dirty.

I bought an Allegra shortly after they came out - the price does seem to have gone up quite a bit since then...

Note the gap where the destination displays can go - I bought a couple of sets before moving house and now I can't find them...doh!

M, agree with you regarding the price of the Allegra, am glad I bought mine when they were first released. Like seeing mine climbing the mountains with some Bernina panorama coaches in tow:

Agree with your comments regarding the traction tyres although I'm just having to replace the tyres on my Harz 2-10-2T but as it has been run every year since I got the loco when they were first released many years ago I'm not complaining.

Also think that deciding whether or not to purchase a LGB loco/railcar without traction tyres rather limits the choice!!
