Ah, right, I can see how that might be a problem; the 2-10-2T has a double universal joint (a ball joint on the end of each motor shaft, and a short cylinder between them) which I guess allows a small amount of parallel sideways displacement in the case of a very tight R1 reverse curve. A single UJ wouldn't permit this.
