Kent & North Wales Light Railway: New Boy

Re: Kent & North Wales Light Railway: New Boy

Pics from yesterday´s Boxing Day running session with a Peter Angus Single Fairlie and a new-ish Mamod "Brunel", picked up at Llanfair this year :) Since I don´t use flash, some of the trains seem to be making a quick get away, due to the long exposure times. >:(

Re: Kent & North Wales Light Railway: New Boy

Yesterday´s session was composed of an attempt to get the enclosed cab Decauville 3t. I used almost all the gas on the first run just trying to get the burner lit (without setting fire to the rest of the line).

Nice snigger 'snigal' box..
No telegraph wires, so relying on trunk-calls I presume?! ::)
;) :D ;D ;D

Re: Kent & North Wales Light Railway: New Boy

A few pics from yesterday´s session, which was for the benefit of a visiting neighbour. Luckily the Double Fairlie behaved impeccably. Photos are courtesy of young Miss K&NWLR, which is probably why we have a baby elephant next to the signal box, as noted above. Sadly, the organic telephone wires (aka cobwebs) from the signal box to the station were blown away by the winter weather.

Vlad hasn´t got permish to live in Stokesay Castle on the Welsh Borders yet. He´s waiting till he gets OAP reduction on the entrance fee. Here´s a pic of the Real Thing. A certain liberty has been taken with one of the towers, and the surroundings are a bit flat for the rack railway which now leads up to the right hand half-timbered add-on station. No planning permission was either requested or received, though the National Trust have probably put a contract out on the architect.

Re: Kent & North Wales Light Railway: New Boy

stunning model

liberties excused - its your railway :)

Re: Kent & North Wales Light Railway: New Boy

Well there is a precedent for the railway line - I've just realised that I've been travelling past Stokesay three or four times a year on the way to Newport. The model is excellent, but it didn't connect as all the piccies are taken looking up.

Re: Kent & North Wales Light Railway: New Boy

It's a pleasure to see exquisite modeling such as yours.

The K&NWLR as dusk falls, the time when unexpected visitors arrive on or near the K&NWLR.

A quick and wobbly phone video, which also gives a glimpse of the Kent end of the line.

Re: Kent & North Wales Light Railway: New Boy

Had a few questions a while back about how all these little bits of the K&NWLR fit together, so I´ll post some pics which show an overall view. It´s not pretty, and there are things that Need a lot of work, but it may help to get a better feel for what it looks like.

North Wales side first, with Kent to follow in the next post.
