Help with Track plan

Cobber mate welcome.... now if you have restricted space throw away the trains and run trams you can have 300mm radius curves and get heaps more "stuff" in to a small space.... Then I wont feel so "alone" on the forum!!!!

I have a very narrow strip of 'real estate' in the garden for my railway, but I still have a double track line and use R1/R2 curves, as can be seen here.

However my locos are Euro NG and the largest are the Bo-Bo V51/52 or 2095 Whizzy Cranks. Similarly, most of my wagons are 2 axle, or shorter bogie vehicles. All LGB stock should go round R1.

If you can accept these limitations then R1/R2 work fine, but if you plan to run US, or Euro SG like the Piko 218, or the Class 66 in the future, then LGB R3/Piko R5 (4 ft radii) should be your minimum....

Even if you do start with R1 curves and decide to use more gentle curves in the future, you can re-bend the R1 into any variation you like. They're cheap and plentiful, I've used loads to make R2 and R3 curves and even some straights for those little gaps that need filling when making your own designs, as it saves cutting 'proper' straights.

Some small layout ideas, you can do a lot in a space that size, all are R1 curves unless noted:

This is my current layout, 9x12

These were designed for interior space constraints but could easily be used outdoors
Good luck

Félicitations !!!!!!:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::admire:

This is about 10ft by 18ft, it's a train set rather than a railway but tons of fun to be had, end to end or round and round with lots of shunting possibilities :bigsmile:
