The last post seemed to have gotten spammed.

Regarding the country of manufacture, the only product markings on the loco seems to be a Marklin serial on one of the bogies - being 11007492. Other than that, there seems to be no country of origin locations on the loco or box (unless I am missing something).

Again, the loco is a RhB Ge 4/4 III "Vals." - LGB 27420.

I would like to know where this is made - mainly because I have an affection to products made in the EU.

I think that for goods manufactured and sold within the EU there is not a requirement to display the country of origin of manufacture. The regulations assume a consistent quality of manufacture (note the word as assume) across the EU. Goods manufactured outwith the EU require the identification of the country of origin when sold within the EU. Not sure what applies in Australia.

Currently I think that Marklin LGB is mostly manufactured in Hungary and this is indicated on the code letters on the secondary label found on LGB products that end in MAHU. For example from one of my boxcars L42264 0913 MAHU (the capital A has a couple of dots over it).

A Wiki link with a bit of background on changes to LGB:

Hope that's a little more helpful.

If you addressed all your question too the source it would be a bit pointless to have excellent special interest discussion forums such as this ;).
