G scale Emily loco to Stirling Single - again.

Well, I scratched my head again and it didn’t work......as ever.
Some time ago I saw a detailed post about a very successful conversion of the Bachmann Emily into the Stirling Single.
It included a list of the components used in the modifications including metal coupling and conrods. I can find the details for the Smallbrook parts and bits from Walsall models but not the rods.
Can anyone track down the posts please? It could be as far back as 4yrs.

.

Rhinochugger Thanks, that is the Gerry Barnes (?) one but I don’t think he uses metal rods.
I have subsequently found another but he seems to have had rods made.
£££££s I imagine! :-o

Flying Fifteen is an active member on this forum and seems to have been involved in Emily conversions :nod:

Sorry, he's Flying15 - it's a keelboat sailer :nod::nod:

Yes and his conversion looks to have detailed metal motion. :)
I had looked at his excellent coach mods but not looked hard at the loco pics.

Actually, I see that Jerry did get metal rods, cast ones.
I wonder if his source is still available?
Digging deeper it seems that Jerry was the source of the metal rods used by jeremy.viewing for his superb conversion.

The fastest dinghy I ever sailed was a Lark. After the GP and Wayfarer it nearly left without me! :-o

At one stage my eldest had a Fireball, and persuaded me to helm while he went out on the wire (normally he helmed and his mate from school crewed) needless to say, I sent him swimming a couple of times :devil::devil:

and a couple of times we both ended up swimming :emo::emo::emo::emo:

I know where to get the metal rods, they were offered to me for $70 plus shipping, the original price was $87... if you want them, let me know soon, they are the last set that were manufactured... otherwise I will buy them for myself.

Greg
Thanks Greg, in for a penny in for a pound.
Yes I will go for them. Just let me know how much you need and the payment method.

Another query - what is the difference between the Emily brake coach and the ordinary one?
I can’t see any difference in the stock images.

I will hook you up directly with the seller... email me please... I have not studied the Emily coaches because it seems they were really not what was used, teak or maroon.. You might be better off starting with the other coaches..

Greg
Thanks Greg, email sent.
I intend just practising with one coach to modify the odd roof shape, it may be distinctive but it isn’t pretty.
At present I don’t have any literature on the GNR to refer to but it does seem that over its lifetime No1 must have hauled a miscellany of stock.
One inherent problem with this loco appears to be its inability to haul more than a few axles.
I will experiment with it before splashing out on bogie stock.
