Full Steam Ahead On Rockery Ridge

Had the loco in steam tonight for the first time after my driving lesson from John Campbell .
John gave me tips on how to fire up the loco and how to run it on my line with it's grades and tight corners .
Had the loco running light first and then coupled up a few freight cars and a AMS caboose the loco found this hard work on my grades as there is alot of drag on the caboose once the caboose was removed the loco run a bit better but still found it hard work . After shutting down the loco i noticed that the brake shoes were very close to the rim of the driving wheels so i pushed them away a bit so i'm not sure if it was the brake shoes holding back the loco will see next time when i run it . Sorry no video as i was on my own and was to busy controlling the loco .
Hope to sort out my LGB Bumble Bee coaches for the next run which are alot lighter to pull than the AMS stock.

Just got back from a afternoon at John Campbell
John gave the loco a MOT as i was suffering with getting up the pressure on the loco started with the gas jet which needed cleaning, trying water in the tender to keep the gas warm and adjusting the radio control at the same time John made a repair to the front beam which had been damaged in the past . Loco was then put into steam which ran like a dream and kept great pressure even blew off steam on the go
Then it was out with the "L" plates for me to take control found it a lot easier to run . So with the second driving lesson out the way i feel ready for my test

Made a few improvements to my C-16 at the week end . The radio control kit which sits in the top of the tender was housed in a old bit of foam with wires every where that would drop into the water in the tender . So i made a cardboard tenplate of the space i had for a new housing, this was then made out of plastic card and painted with primar and then a coat of satin black . Made a section for the batteries and the radio gear which all sits nice under the coal load with no untidy wires . Have also made it so i can fill the gas tank with out removing the the whole unit out (IS THIS OK OR SHOULD I KEEP THE GAS AWAY FROM THE RADIO GEAR WHEN FILLING ???)
Have also put the DALLEE C-16 sound board in the Bachmann coach that rides behide the loco works off a P9 battery and have fixed reed switches for bell and whistle sounds very nice with the loco in steam .
