Dietz DLE 2M decoder

I just acquired a Piko BR80 chipped with a Dietz DLE 2M decoder - even with the instructions for the decoder but they are in German only. Does anyone have a set in English? It's the CV table I really need as I can't get the lights to repsond to F0.

Also it appears that the top speed setting on one of these decoders is only 63 compared to 255 for LGB/massoth. Is this correct?

Thanks

Nigel

Hi Nigel. Dietz only issue instructions in German, but let's see what we can do to help.

Are you using an LGB MTS central station? If so, the first thing you need to check is that the following CVs have been set so that the decoder knows what to expect:
CV29=20 (14 speed steps and automatic analogue detection)
CV49=2 (allocation of functions in line with LGB MTS commands)

Those are the factory settings of the decoder, but may have been changed by a previous owner.

Regarding the CV5 value (top speed), you're right Dietz only have a range of 1-63. However, if I read the manual rightly, by switching CV29 as above, the decoder internally then converts the range to steps 1-255, with the values as shown in CVs 67-94. You can alter each of those CVs individually if you really want to.

Hope that helps!

Thanks, that helps a great deal (perhaps I ought to go to night school to learn German). I'd managed to interpret the instructions enough to get the values for CV29 & CV49 but beyond that I was lost. Now to sort out the light that's shorting.

My pleasure! Hope it does fix the problems. If not, feel free to give me a PM if more translation is needed... :nail:
