CHINNOR AND PRINCES RISBOROUGH RAILWAY

I visited the railway yesterday for the first time. The Railway currently runs from Chinnor to Platform 4 Princes Risborough Station. The current length of the Railway is approximately 4 miles. There are plans to extend it westwards by a further 2 miles. The Railway itself is based at Chinnor.

2 locomotives were in use during the visit. The first is an American Baldwin S160 2-8-0 Number 6046 built in 1945. The second is a Brush Type 4 Number 15001, one of the original batch built in 1962, later BR Class 47. I was able to travel behind both locos which ran alternately. The rolling stock was BR Mk 1s painted in GWR colours with each carriage named after a GWR Manager eg Dean etc.

Nice pictures, love to see an S160 in action. One of my local lines. Very handy if you want to stop off and do some shopping at Garden Railway Specialists, 50 yds from PR station ! My last trip I paid for a cab ride on a class 37. It failed just before my booked turn Got a refund but marred the day. I always seem to have had a negative experience there, one way or another, each time I have visited. 3 times now

The S160s originally had problems staying on the UK rails - wheel profile discrepancy between US and UK (was wot I read many moons ago)
