This model is basically a repaint of the LGB 21590 Class BR 399 101-5 'Wangerooge' 0-6-0 diesel locomotive of the DB. The model came with a factory fitted decoder.

This model is similar to, and shares the engine bonnet with, Claptowte Railway Locomotive No13 ‘Joshua’ which is a reworking of the LGB Austrian OBB HF130 0-6-0 diesel locomotive. Although the two locos share the same bonnet and bonnet fittings, the cab body, footplate, buffer beams and everything below footplate level, are different. As with the HF130 model, there is a great deal of detail included with separately applied panel catches, handles, handrails, etc. As with Joshua, when reassembling the model after painting, I did omit the dummy screw coupling and hook from the buffer beam as no other Claptowte Railway stock is so fitted. Again, for continuity, I did add brake pipes to the buffer beams, compatible with other Claptowte Railway stock. Other than that, the only alteration was a complete repaint, inside and out.

The model, prior to disassembly for a repaint.

I began by stripping down the model into its component parts and where necessary these were given a coat of spray grey plastic primer.

For a corporate livery, for the Claptowte Railway diesel fleet, I chose a colour scheme of black underframes, green bodywork and, for the roofs, the same BR maroon coaching stock roof grey as used on the passenger coaches. The green that I chose is PlastiKote RAL6005 satin Hunt Green. As with the steam locomotives, the buffer beams were finished in red. The cab interior is painted in BR cream.

Once the painting had been completed, I applied etch brass name and number places, sourced from Custom Nameplate Studio.

The reworked and repainted model
