A little youtube video of it:
Very effective, when running or stationary you would never know that bits of drainpipe were circumnavigating the track.

Was it an artifact on the photo's, or are the rooves of the cars ribbed along their lengths?

I had wondered if you had found 'something' off the shelf.

I can imagine that complete set of coaches has cost less than just 1 LGB equivalent, a truly inspired build.

Less than $100 spent on materials for all 4 coaches.
If that includes the bogies it is even more inspiring. I guess Newquida bogies would work just fine here.

Yes I had purchased spare Newqida bogies years ago for about $5-$7 each when they were available. Unfortunately the Newqida line is drying up, they haven't made any more for the past 4 years and doesn't look it will continue.

Nicely done Mike!

The CD livery is certainly one of the smartest on the European network....

An example to us all !
Our hobby doesn’t always have to involve great expense!
I also guess the personal satisfaction from such creativity is off the scale!
Great job

I think your representation of the windows looks more realistic than the LGB ICE train..
Your photos are enhanced by the slight reflection of the white uprights in the windows. - Very possibly a 'happy accident', but effectively adds to the illusion.

Speaking of ICE. This is where it all began. I have converted all my LCE's to my new window decals so that the old LGB's and new all match when assembling a train except for the ICE EUROPA and Klimaschutzer I have created. But all the windows are the same
