The tooling is LGB as bought from Marklin and they do not breach Trading Standards
If they use the original tooling they aren't copies and they certainly aren't rip offs. They certainly aren't originals either and can't be called replica's as they do not have all the same fittings. So what are they?

Polite answers only please!

Answers on a postcard please!:rolf:

Could have been worse - could have been UNITED DIARIES. :bigsmile::bigsmile::bigsmile::bigsmile:

Mel, wake up mate, I did that one in post 50 :bigsmile:
United Drearies :nerd:
The real worry is the coach: TB as in Tuberculosis Railway Company (cough, cough) :rolf::rolf:

Dear Tim,

Indeed they can. And have been. And they run well with replacement metal wheels.

Apparently only 2 cm side to side.

That is brilliant Alex. Must be one of the best repaints I've seen of the tanker.

Some of the repaints and bashes done by members of the forum are excellent, and the NQD stuff is well priced for those of us who like to do this.

I'll be pleased if my own NQD bash turns out half as good as this wagon....

Very kind of you, Gizzy.

Both the Daws and the Rodda milk tankers carry artwork by Chris Moxham (the latter with the sanction of the Rodda family as the logo is copyright) and were finished after some 'adjustments' to the bodywork in Halfords spray colours.

I would never have attempted this on a LGB version- far, far too costly.

Thank you once again.

It was the entrenched and dogmatic opinion of certain forum members, and the resulting unpleasant exchanges, with regard to the introduction of the Newquidia brand, that finally led to the demise of G Scale Mad. It is refreshing, reading through all the above responses, that there is now a far more relaxed and accepting attitute to it. I just feel sad that this attitude did not exist a years ago, we might all still be Madders instead of Centralists (with no disrespect to Lisa).

Alec K - I love those Rodda's tankers. Really nice paint job and subtle adaptation of the railings around the tank top. First rate job! :thumbup:

And they would have been available in greater quantities from more outlets - I know this as I imported them! There would have been a limited (200) edition GSM tanker or box car (which would have helped pay for the GSM site) but due to all of the agro, Jason was not prepared to go with it.

Im not bitter by the way.

I love those tankers that you have shown, really given me some ideas! I wonder if filling them with expanding foam or something similar would hide the fact of how thin the plastic is.

I distinctly remember, about a year or so ago and in another place, writing that LGB may have sold the tooling and that the arrival of cheap products would be good for the hobby as it would encourage people to start a garden railway and also encourage more people to have a go at "kitbashing".

I'm really pleased for the hobby to see that things are working out this way (and that I was right). :D

I don't expect an apology from the sender of abusive emails though.

It has been stated by many that these did not use the same tooling on many forums with many pictures, construction differences, and dimensional data.

For example, I have one of the tank cars apart on the bench now. The railings are three parts, and the body is four. Different than the other brand version, and due to being multi parts, the tank for the NQD model will "not hold water", literally!! Where as my other brand tank car will. The tap is non functioning also on NQD, the other brand, it works, etc.

Many larger parts do have dimensional differences that do not allow for direct interchange.

HJ Mueller went as far as even detailing some of the technical basis behind the models vs the other brand discussing mill marks on the RhB boxcars.

I had a good comparison thread on GSM, but that went bye bye, but the pix exist.

As far as fit and feel, they are about the quality of Bachmann large scale. The blue coach was left outside for a year....now the roof has a bit of a swag, so UV resistance is on par with Accucraft (the one car I had from them warped after a couple hours in the sun).

Take this as some constructive points, nothing more, nothing less, and nothing more to be assumed.

Dismantle the wagon and spraypaint it.
I used a primer first, then some autopaint. Halfords seems to do an excellent job on these.
Looks rock solid now.

Well trust my countryman to come up with a good suggestion, us Norvege, well my grandfather was Norwegian

Newqida Quality;
No, they are not as good a quality as LGB.
But;
I am 6ft 2in tall, and when they are running around on the floor of the garden, 6ft 2in away from my eyes, they dont look very much different in quality. Infact they look very much the same.
Decision;
If you dont like them dont buy them, but dont try putting people on a lesser budget off them.
(3 of the red coaches look real good behind a LGB Harz tank 2-6-2)
The ultimate contradiction, perhaps.

It would certainly look Newquida with United Dairys on the side:rolf:

or even 'United Diaries' :bigsmile:

The fact that LGB is put into the description is only to show compatibility. When I make a description title for items that I am putting on Fleabay I would prefer to have enough characters to say the name of the item, g scale, g gauge , LGB compatible...but there never is enough so LGB gets an insertion into the title on its own. Perhaps an annoyance for people who only want LGB but I also have to put up with it to find stuff and it certainly doesn't get me in a tizz....perhaps that is because I am soooooooo laaaiiid back.....zzzzzzz:sleep:

Paint really changes them. They take the US Krylon Fusion (paint for plastic) quite well. Looking forward to doing my RhB boxcars and maybe a bash with the two pax cars.

Pax cars....still like the idea of "Russian Ribs" and larger windows perhaps.....:thinking:
