Bachmann G Scale Coupling Block

Hi there. I was wondering if you could help me with sourcing the plastic coupling mounting block for Annie & Clarabel coaches.

This is the same plastic fitting that is attached to the Troublesome trucks which ensures that the coupling height is the same as LGB and Piko rolling stock.

I have contacted Bachmann Europe at Barwell, but they have sent me the wrong parts twice now, despite me explaining the parts I needed. This is frustrating as they have asked me to return the incorrectly supplied parts, but have now said that it is unlikely that they have what I'm looking for. I asked them if it was possible to order them from the factory in China, and they said that they are unable to do that.

Please can anyone suggest where I can source the large plastic blocks, or if there is another solution.

If you have the Bachmann catalogue number, you could try a search on the Gaugemaster website.

Or you could try Garden Railway Specialists, Chalk Garden Rail, Kent Garden Rail....

Paul, I have a load of them somewhere. I'll look them out for you later.

Thanks for your help Gizzy. I have contacted Kent Garden Rail and they do not stock that part. Neither do Garden Railway Specialists sadly.

I must admit that if Bachmann Europe at Barwell don't stock the part, then I think I'm going to struggle to source the part from UK retailers.

Unfortunately my coaches can't be coupled to Thomas or with my LGB/Piko stock as the block is missing from the coaches along with the coupling. I do have spare couplings but not mounting blocks.

Hi Paul. You didn't say how many you are after. This is what I've found so far - do I need to look further? The twelve smaller ones came as part of the conversion set included with the coaches and locos. I also have a number of the oversize hooked couplings too. If you PM me your address I'll put what you want/need in the post. Wasn't thinking of charging you as I have no further use for them, having sold all my TTT stock apart from a modified Thomas and a couple of coach bodies. You'll have to source your own screws and flexi-springs though.

I just wanted to say that I'm now sorted with sourcing the coupling mounting blocks thanks to ebay Mike from this Parish. Its good to know that there are members of gscalecentral who come to the rescue and this website is such a fantastic resource too.

Thanks also to Gizzy for suggesting that I try certain retailers for the parts. Though the retailers didn't stock the parts, I was grateful for the retailers names.

A part like that could easily be built up out of simple Styrene sheet stock, then "welded to the carriage underframe, then a hole drilled and the coupler attached.....in case anyone cares to be the slightest bit creative. The styrene could be simply painted with black paint.

Thanks Fred for the suggestion. I did experiment with a thin piece of wood but couldn't find screws long enough.
