Apparently this used to be an LGB loco.
Anyone know what model it was before someone took a saw to it?

It's the drive block from a LGB Harz 2-6-2. SN: 2080

More like from a 2071 as this block doesn't have the extra long standoff for the drive rod and there is no slider

Nope! The LGB 2071 U class has the same driver wheelbase but with different wheels and it's cylinders are a part of the chassis molding. The Harz 2-6-2 engine cylinder assembly slides down in the wide slot on the r/h side of the above chassis picture.

Anyway the coupling rods are on upside down - the bearing oil filler points should be on the top

The rear wheel has a different kind of bolt holding the rod. Could be a replacement for the original long standoff.

For the non believers...
My block from an early 2080S (bottom pic) looks the same as Dunnyrail's above with no sliders but mine has 4 supports each side under the deck like the original poster's block.
I think the 2080 model side view in post #2 which has sliders is a recent LGB/Marklin version.

It's now academic as someone paid silly money for it, I'll just have to keep looking for a suitable 0-6-0 chassis for my project.
