AI railway

SWMBO had a knee replacement just a couple of months ago and the surgeon used a robot to do that.
Simplest robot that I know of is a 3D printer.
Contrary to what Hollywood would have you believe computers do not think, they are only as good as the information we put into them.
That's right - rubbish in, rubbish out. Most (all?) of AI is collecting information based on key words in the information given by the questioner. Hence, say, a question on Hornby O gauge track will receive an answer which eventually goes off topic and onto Hornby OO gauge track, or such is my experience.

One of the oldest sayings in the computer industry, "Garbage in, Garbage out" or GIGO. And that is the issue with these LLM's. I read an article in the Guardian about their use in military targeting system, very frightening. Bit long, bit political, sorry. Max

I use to believe that, and a lot of talk about AI was really just machine learning, but now the AI bot goes to find information (data), and then correlates it, rather than work on data we have provided, but as can be seen, it does not always get it right.

Ah! But it is definitively wrong...

The clever bit, is making sure you know enough, to know it is wrong..

Once you have lost the ability to question and reason, you have lost the will to live, IMHO.

PhilP.

But it won't be wrong for much longer. It used to be that the customer is always right, now it's the computer.
I had to have my email address changed yesterday, the IT chap said it wont take long, he struggled for over an hour! I don't think the computer wanted to change.

I have asked AI (ChatGPT) a few very to me pertinent questions where I sort of knew the answer but wanted more detail. Have to say I was very impressed by how accurate and detailed the answers were confirming my suspicions to a tea. I have also used it to create some interesting scenic effects to my Garden Railway pictures (posted in here).
