Somewhat frosty early on today, but good enough later on.
Double Wonky rolls into the head shunt so that Frank S can take over to take passengers to Linz.

After yesterday's deluge whilst I was in Mid Wales, it was dry today back home so after the elbow grease was doled out with the track cleaning block, a satisfying running session was had.

Me too Paul. It also reminds me of a great picture I have seen of the Harz line - different loco of course but the road/rail setting is a match.
I'll see if I can dig it out.

There has been plenty of moss growth lately, so far it doesn't interfere with the rolling stock, so letting it be.
Quite mild today, so it was ideal for a relaxing running session after a few leaves and detritus was removed.

A few years ago I had the opportunity to buy an Aster LGB Garratt loco; at the time I passed on the chance, but due to changes in circumstances I changed my mind when I found one on Ebay.de that a collector had bought and never run.
So I got a new loco as a birthday present to myself ( a couple of weeks late, but it was worth the wait).

Here she is under going "gauging trials" on the Linz Gstadt Bahn.
(Not that she needed a trial as Neil Robinson's Garratt graced my line around 5 years ago).

The lit firebox is a treat and the valve gear motion is hypnotic, what a loco.

LGB factory sound is excellent as I would expect, and after I lubricated all the metal valve-gear on both power bogies, she had a tour of the LGB.....

Paul,

Another set of atmospheric pictures, fantastic.

All the time that I've had mine I've not tried the smoke unit. Must do it one day...... Pity that all off us owners of the Garratt on here are so far apart geographically - it would be nice to have a Garratt running day once!!

Consider a pulsed smoke unit. There's plenty of space in that boier, the loco already has a chuff sensor and there are enough spare wires between the rear bunker and boiler.
