45mm gauge spoked wheels

I am scratch building a 45mm gauge locomotive which needs spoked tender wheels which are as near as possible to 43mm diameter. Number of spokes not important. Can't find any anywhere. Can anyone make any suggestions please?

Walsall May be your best bet in UK. He does 3’6” finished castings which is 42 inch pretty close, you may get exact with careful turning of the blanks.

I think we need the prototype size, and whether 'G' or something finer?

Thanks but I don't have any machine tools so blanks are not viable for me. I am an electronics/3D printing/laser cutting person.

After more searching I found that the Slaters S9851 appears to be almost spot on so I will try those. Expensive but they seem to be the only option. They are intended for 10mm/foot gauge 1 so does anyone know if they will have problems running on my G scale LGB and Aristocraft track?

I've a mate who runs G1 stock on LGB code 322 track, and they seem to work fine. He did replace all of his R3 points with R5 ones on the outer loop of his double track layout though for some of this stock....

Slaters' wheels will run fine on G scale track.PICT0001.JPG

My scratchbuilt 2-6-2 uses Slaters' drivers

Finer flanges doesn't necessarily mean finer scale or finer track tolerances - the smaller flanged US Accucraft stock has the same back-to-back as G scale and most Gauge 1 stuff

As Greg routinely points out, flange dropping on points (turnouts) is the only issue, not much of a problem on bogie stock ;);)

Thanks. I have ordered Slaters.

The photo shows the loco I am scratch building onto a modified Bachmann Annie chassis using laser cut 3mm mdf and 3D printing. It is a South Australian Railway YX class loco which is running on the Pichi Richi railway.

Nice looking Loco with typical Beyer Peacock looks. Almost like a Tender Isle of Man Loco sans Water Tanks, but Beyers did have a characteristic design. Battery Powered I presume with MLS Sound?
