2 into 1 will do nicely.

I had a couple of Nequida low sided gondolas that I never used and thought what to do with them, messing about building the upscale cars these were good donors,so work started and the plan was a pipe car and idler but halfway through I changed to a high sided gondola and a spare flat for something else later,so a few pics of the build,I`m up to first coat colour so far,the interior has just had a body colour wash over the primer for a sign of some use but no plan to weather any of the cars as my larger 1;20 locos are all paint box clean. The main frame has been beefed up and widened to make the stake pockets in the actual frame and ladders added, couplings changed and working cut bars each end, second coat paint, lettering and matt varnish to finish, not forgetting extra rivet and bolt moldings added,,trouble posting pics yesterday but appears all fine now.IMG_20190617_145915.jpgIMG_20210411_132729.jpgIMG_20210411_161245.jpgIMG_20210411_161320.jpgIMG_20210411_161300.jpgIMG_20210411_161341.jpg

cool!

how did you achieve the outside-bent sideboards?
Korm,I simply used heat from the kitchen cooker and I had no problem with the current Mrs Rio!!!!;):rofl: I removed the trucks as prone to melt as thin plastic, then held the car over the heat until a little soft then using something to protect my hand bent the soft hot plastic into shape, risky job as if gets too hot the car body is ruined as it catches fire and "blobs" the plastic, small sections done with a lighter,I have also done the same to my Bachmann high side gondolas and a pic added of those although the pic is an old one that I think I have posted before. The biggest problem with this bash was matching the two low sides into the high side needed as both cars when done were different, yes matching done with heat in the same way.IMG_20190603_095722.jpgIMG_20190617_150534.jpg

neither do i. but i'll try a hairdryer, when the wife isn't home.
Hm never thought of that but I suspect my barely used one is nit hot enough but am going to give it a try and report back.

EDIT OK waste of electricity no effect, not worth risking a “Fine” when you try to explain what you have been using her hair dryer for. Trust me she will know!

Some time away on my hols so not been around for a couple of weeks but some more done on the bashes, only lettering and a body paint wash over the lettering to tone it back, not really weathering just a little age added, the white lettering was a little to bright. There is another box car under construction as I picked up a Bachmann car for 25 quid while away and the other Nequida chassis to look at when thats done.IMG_20210415_134412.jpgIMG_20210415_134359.jpgIMG_20210415_134032.jpgIMG_20210415_134326.jpg
