Wonderfull, truly vertiginous. Who wants HS2 when you could have one of those. Ideal route already there - build above above the Grand Union canal! Some of the NIMBY's may not like the passengers taking a look in at their bedroom windows but what are you going to take in at that speed. Love the vintage train. Thanks for posting.

Some old-fashioned brass curtain rail might come in handy for the "track" in G scale ?

One of my favorite white knuckle rides.
Had a run on the ancient set they drag out for tourists earlier this year, when they were not on it
It ran non-stop end to end at a death defying speed!

At one end the 'Danglebahn' ( thats its British translation I think ) trundles above an active trolleybus line, then runs down the main street......just imagine having it rumble and vibrate past your bedroom window.

The cars are attched by enormous wheels to the overhead track, and the cars swing out wildly on corners as centrifugal force is still functioning in Germany, and health and safety apparently isnt. You have to jiump on the cars in the station rather than board, as the first foot on the car pushes it away from you! It has to be experienced to be believed. I love it.
So I look forward to seeing a working model.

Incidently all the above photos were taken by me earlier this year.....its all still there and in fine form.
The service is around a three minute headway, even more frequent at peaks, and very busy.

I remember seeing the N scale system at Aly Pally show a few years ago when I was up there with my layout. Looked fun but flippin' expensive!

I had a run on it years ago, and the experience was more like flying through the air in a boat - especially the boarding bit, as Syd mentioned. There is something similar in America, although it lacks the character of the Schwebebahn.

Not seen that one before.
I was wondering what happens if they fall off - but it is graphically illustrated at around 3m 15s!:-
I see that Dresden has a funicular version.
