Following advice from Newhaven Neil, I finally took a hacksaw to my Wrekin's cab.

The work is not up to Boston Lodge standard, but gives the effect I wanted. The half backsheet is slid over the original stanchions, and is removable, so that I can improve on the job later.

Looks great. I like the idea of sliding the backsheet onto the stanchions.

And the loco in the background looks kind of familiar too. Any more pictures of them please??
 
I've not done much photography on these locos, yet.
This one is from the same session, a slightly different angle & shows up the new paint.
 
I'm trying to maintain a coporate image, so I wanted Wrekin to approximate the Lawley style.
My tatty Edrig, here visiting a 45mm line, had the cab mod when bought.
The coaches have since been repainted, in the same livery as those on the left.
 
Went to a 16mm Assoc meeting at the weekend, and Ian Midgely ran his Wrekin "Kittiwake" with an interesting slant on the cab rear.
