When you accidentally printed some track in 32mm...

...and end up building some stock, and committing to having a little layout ready for a show in March..

Track layout is yet to be decided but this IKEA desk top is crying out to have a little mine layout built on it!

With some textured paint and a splash over with some hull red, they're starting to come together!20231006_164415.jpg

A lovely fix of an error, remember it is not a stuff up till you can't fix it. ;);)
I might have to make a similar mistake for a small layout I am thinking about.
I will watch this with interest.

Thinking out of the box a little, with metal skips there are often rust holes and lots of bends where loads have been carelessly dropped in the wagons and JCB loading have done side swipes. I would have thought this is just the thing for 3d printing to achieve, possibly drawing up a few distressed squares to insert into the plain sides at the drawing stage. On my LGB ones I attacked the sides with a soldering iron, cant show these now as they have been sold out of service.

Yep, I've simulated a few patches and other damage to the skips, and I'm going to use a heat gun to warp the tops a little. They're looking pretty good as I build up the layers..20231007_153354.jpg
