Hey you all,
This picture was taking before 1943/44 with my great grand father and his fireman.
When they shot him of the "Moerdijk brug" here in the Netherlands, around (wild guess) 1942 he refused to drive further and claimed his pension.
Watch, 20200604_205441.jpg learning book, cigar box and this picture are in my possession.
He was a "master" machinist and this was his loco, hauling mostly mail. He was in serves from 1914 to ~1942.
His learning book is dated from 1904, probably bought second handed and is probably not about this locomotive, but past his exams.
Now this is basically all i know, what i dont know is his type or name or brand of loco.
I refuse to believe this was a 3700 series and that the remaining loco's of other 3700's where converted to the 6400 series.(my grandfathers story).
Probably this is a no brainer for some of you but i am out of guesses, sorry.
I hope someone can tell me more about this loco, or can get me into the right track.

I hope i posted this in the right section, or is this question more for the coffee corner?
Thanks in advance

Yes, all things are adding up...."de beul"(nickname), Eindhoven(city in the Netherlands), war damage (the bridge), hauling (mail??) in "zuid Zimburg, Brabant and Utrecht.", Builder: Hensel und Sohn.
No doubt! All the story's from my grant parents and parents have a place now, around the same loco.
The number confusion is also very clear now, the boiler number is 3900 series.
After some research his loco number was probably: 6306

You people are the greatest! Thank you very much!

Sorry have to reply before this is gone, i still have to save/print/write this up, sorry, but really thank you all for this info.

Btw the family was VERY happy to receive this info provided!!!!
Some info was lost/mixed up between great grandfather and my grandfather even down to my own father and or uncles... who will tell or can tell...
Many thanks from my family!!!, special thanks from uncle "Ad D...." btw..... (not Kurgan)
Have a good weekend! cheers!

In the Netherlands i found a "museum" that has rebuilt this loco in real scale, no link sorry.
Probably they used some war damaged loco's, i am still trying to hunt this down, if there is some interested i will post it.

Thanks again for the correct numbers/identification about the loco...
The "student book" was giving by the dutch railways btw for his course, he did not bought it.
Still need some more time to dive into there archives.

With best regards

Very rear video of a 6300 series, probably the only video ever made of a 6300 serie loco.
In the first seconds of the clip you will see the NS 6300 serie loco.
If some one can get the number it would be great, btw pre war so it could be one of the first or one of the second series, boilers are almost identical.(from the 3900 series)
But after 1935 when they started to build those catenaries...????catenaries????Power lines..

During the second world war several of those locomotives where destriod, and his loc number 6306? was scrapped due to war damage (stories do add up because they shot him off the train..), he did not know he was sometimes transporting jews, he knew he was transporting mail...or coal, was depending on the route
But when he knew he was transporting nazis, i can tell you stories...and no fairy or fantasy talls...all first hand....

If you know more or stumble upon a video of 6300 series i would very much appreciate a link, vid or data or what ever you have.

Thanks in advance and with best regards Igor

Thanks to my friend Mijneer de Vriese - 'this is a full-size replica of the Class 6300 here in the rail museum in Utrecht. The real one gives rides.'

He was a "master" machinist and this was his loco, hauling mostly mail. He was in serves from 1914 to ~1942.

As in France, the term 'machinist' was used to describe the highly-qualified locomotive driver/engineer. They were treated like minor royalty, and were the peak of the railway profession staff.

Long time since I went to that Museum, should be on my list for another visit.

believe it or not, but this replica is almost made enterly out of wood and putty.

I thought only one of the 3700 series would give rides.(3737 Limburg - Utrecht)
Sinds the 6300 series have the boilers of the 3700 locos, with frames of the 3900 locos.
There is one left: 6317 but that one dont drive anymore, you can see it in 5 seconds when you take the history tour in a sort of roller coaster track in the museum.
6306 was scrapt in 1947-48
