What happened at your workbench today?

OK....
One for the camera nerds:
I am trying to get a photo of some railway lamps, which have LEDs in. Warm-white and Red. But the Smartie-Phone is picking up too much light and burning out. - There may be a problem that the sensor picks up infra-red, as well?
This is the result:

Lamp to the right is illuminated red..
The only tweak I can find on the phone, is to go down to ISO 50. I did try altering the white balance, but that affected the background, not the lamps:

Better, but still burning out the image a little.

Any ideas?

A (extra) resistor in series to dim the LEDs? Might need to be different values for each. I have two-color LEDs, red/warmwhite for the headlamps in my Eggliner. AI suggested an extra resistor in line with the red lead to dim it to more of a taillight brightness rather than a headlight brightness. Worked a treat.

Thanks..
It is not the brightness of the lamps which is the problem, it is trying to get a representative photo of what I am seeing..
I see a Warm-white and Red lamp-lenses, not the burnt out images posted.

Made some good progress on these catenary masts this week.

Next job will be soft soldering the insulators and short wires on, that will hold the catenary, support, earth and feed wires.
Then it will working out how to best (and cheaply) model the large gantries the RhB have at stations.

Nice to see the bench a bit cluttered up. It's a bit like when I was working, when it was claimed that a tidy desk was the sign of a sick mind :giggle::giggle::giggle:

I can assure you that my mind was extremely healthy :D:D

Try a different camera? Either the newest smartphone you can access or a DSLR? They might get different results
