It's stating the blinkin' obvious but just in case someone new to kit building happens upon this thread...
Never throw out the remaining stuff from an IP kit after you've built it. The frets from bulkheads can be used as a template for scratch building, the laser cut frets could well be windows (in fact one bit of mine was) and a quick cut with a razor saw gives you some very useful planks. The list is probably endless, so keep the stuff if you have the room.
