Hi,
It`s been quite a while since I posted anything here so I just wanted to give you a little update on our line!
The weather has been the major reason for slowing down progress, it has just been too miserable to get much work done outside over the last few months. Things are starting to improve though so finally we got outside and made a start on a few projects we had been planning.
The first was to install some new track work for a scrapyard which is being added to the Somerville area of the line. For anyone who has seen previous photos of our railroad, this area was towards the bottom of the garden and used to have a small barn and livestock scene. To be honest we were never really happy with this, the area is supposed to represent an industrial area on edge of town, with a paper mill behind the camera, and a coal merchant being served by the spur on the right hand side of the picture. In the end we decided that this area would make a much better site for another rail-served industry, giving us a good excuse to add more interest for our operations. The barn was re-loacted to a much more scenic spot at the top of the garden so everything worked out well in the end!
Here are some photos of the new spur which we just completed a few days ago. The spur for the scrapyard can be seen to left hand side of the mainline. Please excuse the tupperware tub with the stone on top! It currently provides some shelter from the elements for a pair of DCC switch decoders until all the buildings for this scene are finished and installed. A Kadee magnet will also be added here to allow operators to set out cars without having to step over the surrounding fauna and other buildings which will be added to this area.

PS: work is also moving forward with the next F3A diesel so I will update that thread as soon as I have some more progress photos!
Thanks again,
G
