Just letting a train or two run round and round can be great fun, but I do also sometimes run to a sort of timetable, or rather a sequence. Did that today with two passenger trains.
With this "realism" in mind, I've drawn a map to show the location of the WGLR in relation to the Cambrian standard gauge (tongue out of side of the mouth, being careful to stay in the lines).
I think it makes some sort of sense? You may notice that Gooey is quite close to Newtown and, at first glance, a direct connection would seem to make more sense, but as anyone who has driven into Newtown from England will tell you, it would have to be a rack line as there's a dirty great hill in the way.
For those that don't know the area, it's nice that, although all of the branch lines are long gone - except for the W&LLR of course - the line from Shrewsbury to Machynlleth is still very much in use.
