To clamp or not to clamp? And if so, then which make?

Clamps for me. Tried split jaw - good, expensive, quite large, fiddly. AMS - old style, cheap, effective.
Train-Li Pro Clamps - excellent, inexpensive, neat. The last ones get my vote.

Screws are fine, cheap but i found them fiddly and not easy to change, Also had some failures but probably down to me.

A drop of LGB or similar grease can't harm.

Well, largely thanks to all the advice here I've "bitten the bullet" today and ordered a bunch of clamps from Jeremy - 100 Massoth (all he had in stock), plus 50 AMS which he very kindly did at the same bulk price - so I ended up paying just 95p per clamp after my GSC discount!

I'll use these on all the joints except the Aristo sections, where I'll stick with the supplied screws and see how they go.

Thanks again for all the help.

Jon.
