Brass track Rail clamps vs joiners

Some white metal WILL melt in boiling water!!

Yes. Things can get pretty warm around the smoke box and its door. The burner is pointed right at them. I have seen soldered surface mounted parts coming adrift after a burner blow back into that area. Stick to brass, steel and iron. Titanium if you are feeling a bit flush. Max

Hello natoanjou,

Welcome on our G-scale site!
I'm a bit late with my reply: my advice to you is to use copper grease when using fishplate connectors.
That proved to work very well for me many years (8 so far!)
See attached the content page and chapters 2.4 and 2.5 about track of my book "Our Model Garden Railway ".
The book is full of G-scale tips and tricks and is available at Amazon as paperback A5 or the larger A4 size both in hard and soft cover.
May be an idea for your X-mas wish list?

Gerard

Juat watched this vid, other makes like Massoth are available but I was until recently looking at an old Piko Catalogue that over as well as under (take toe existing fishplate off) types were available from Piko not Paco as he says it!
From my perspective I do prefer the Massoth ones as fitting with a screw simpler than with an Allen key, but horses for courses I guess.
