Thomas to the Rescue

Caving, Garden Railways & more caving. Fan of TTTE
Thomas's branch line takes him near to an old quarry in which there are a number of caves. One day a caver has a nasty fall and Harold the Helicopter is asked to take him to hospital, but it's too foggy to land so Thomas comes to the rescue.

This is the latest video from the Sandwell Valley Railway.

?Art imitating life, I think Keith?

Very good! Hope you are doing well?

Yet another super episode, loved it.

Thanks Jon. This was quite experimental and I had no idea how it would turn out with having a mixture of garden railway video and 12" to the foot clips and also with the fog FX, but my grandson asked to see it twice so it must have got his seal of approval.

Thanks Phil. Yeah, the quarry is the actual quarry where I had my little accident and an air ambulance was requested but it was too foggy for it to be able to land safely. It happened almost a year ago and I am pretty well fully recovered.

Cracking tribute - well done :clap::clap::clap::clap:

Thanks. I really enjoyed making the garden railway but don't often run any trains. One of my other hobbies is making videos and the great thing about the Thomas characters is it's very easy to make up stories and then film the action. My garden then becomes my film studio and it's all great fun.

Another brilliant video and story and a clever combination of your hobbies. With a moving face on Thomas and the combination of different media you've taken things another great step forward.

It's good to read that you're well on the mend.

Thanks. Pleased you like it. I'm teaming up with the Pine Tree Junction Film Unit for the Christmas Special. It should have been filmed last year but had to be postponed due to circumstance beyond my control. We're assembling the props at the moment and hope to start filming in the next couple of weeks.

  • How was Thomas to the Rescue filmed?
  • What part is driven by clockwork?
  • See inside the state-of-the art studio.
  • Find out why using a green truck isn't a good idea.

Brilliant stuff - turning adversity into entertainment too!
