The Sherwood Oaks Light Railway

A third to echo Paul (Stainzmaster)'s views... 'making a railway' is more than just some track in the garden. There are lovely little well thought out scenes in this line, and the plants are maturing nicely :) Talyllyn looks fabulous too!

Well Thank You all for the nice comments, really there has been little forward planning to the line. I knew how I wanted the track set out but the scenics have really just falled into place.

As for the ballast, I wanted it to look poor and crumbley so its a 1-2-2 mix.
1 part cement
2 part yellow sand
2 part 3mm-4mm chippings
sweep it on with an old dustpan and brush then water it!

Water way to spend a day!
Today I have installed the stream at Harlow Wood, the station also recieved its ballast platform.
The bridge is still to go back in as I need to make some brakets to hold it to the block work.

Matt.

I reckon you need to take a trip to the rolling stock cupboard and show us some pics with trains running :bigsmile:

Some lovely stuff on show there ! I am also impressed by the fact the L.& N.W.R. still exists on the other side of your garden fence!

Very cool looking layout. Im guessing that would be o scale or something close to it???? Im bad with the numbers. I like the look of the track.

The track gauge is O but the scale is 1:19, this could be used as 18" gauge in 1/20.3, some also use 16mm track to model 2' gauge in 1/22.5.

Some interesting detailing there. I mean the Pratts fuel can !

Now this must be a first (especially for a railway with less than a yard of 2.5" gauge track) a visiting standard gauge tender loco!
