i must say i really like the layout-

not only the aspect of construction, which i think would make wiring and the like less hassle

but the relative tidiness of the ballast-the pictures of it wet have a naturalness but also an orderliness as well

but what i really like is the raised planter effect-not only of the layout itself-which integrates so well with your garden area

but also

the small raised planters on the end loops-reminds me of a municipal botanical type of garden-very pleasing, very effective in adding la bit of garden to the table to-just so pleasing to the eye

how will the extension connect to the original?

from the one pic i gather it may be a bit more free form?

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your comment, you seemed to have grasped my intentions.
I took note of comments by some about baseboard type layouts and how a Garden Railway should be down with the soil.
Trouble is as one gets older the Railway might look good down there but getting back up from it is not so good.
So I tried to incorparate both Baseboard and Garden.
Yes wiring is a lot easier, although all my cables were sunk in the ground from the first layout on this site.
The extention will connect via/passing through the shed. (See first picture/plan in this thread).
The Track Plan (the one in my head) keeps changing but once I have laid some track out I will update the picture/plan
There will be raised planters in the extention as well.
Progress has slowed a little recently, think we blew ourselves out a bit by rushing at it.
And the Rain / Snow / Rain / Snow / Rain / Rain thing that has been going on alot recently.
But I will keep posting updates as it all progresses.

Always happy to answer any question. Cheers for now Trevor.
