Latest progress, this lockdown and a change in working patterns has created a bit more time for garden railway work.
I ballasted part of the track near the church, and decided I needed a wall to separate the railway and church.
so cracked out the foam board and had a play, it’s not quite the standard of mr Duffy, but it’s look ok from a few feet away.
I’ve also started a goods yard, in the corner of the garden, it’s a convenient place to store my ever growing collection of freight stock.
Just need to decide if I want to go for postcrete ballast, to represent a hard standing for vehicles

Been taking advantage of the sunshine, and ran trains,
was also a test new wagon purchases.
I’ve decided the shed is going to be a rail served warehouse, so will be Making a concrete hard standing for it in the next few days.
Then got to sort out the fencing and details etc

Here a few pictures of recent progress,
theres now the start of concrete round the warehouse area.
and done a bit more work of the playmobil crane, and also the loco has been converted to run off a 3s lipo, using a own controller and dc step down transfer. Very easy to do and sound way more complex than it is

A few photos of recent activity, mainly testing a few recently purchased wagons, and latest rc loco.
Ive Managed to squeeze a 3s 2.2ah battery and deltang gear into the Schoema, so it needed testing,
Will revisit it and some point and paint the switch and add lights
The u class had broken valve gear, So is being made into a tramway loco

As the weather has turned for the better and the sun is appearing decided to get out and run a recently purchased train.
The ore wagons were an impulse buy, but make they make a very nice rake, and will help improve the already substantial freight shifting service available.

We had a rake if those on the Ruschbahn, Andy made them look more European by removing most of the fiddly detail and putting a platform on either end.

Latest update from the Laverstock garden bahn
A recent project has been the creation of storage sidings, with large radius points. This is nearly finished, juat need a few more track joiners.
As it was sunny, there a chance to test the loops and see what their capacity was.
also got the chance to test some recent acquisitions, as part of the varied rolling stock that is owned and operated by the railway.
Lots of wagons, means a busy yard, and justification to buy a dedicated shunting loco in the future
The site of a future freight or oil depot, was tested for size to see if the newly purchased wagons would fit
They did!
after testing the sidings the assorted vans were then hauled away ready for future use.

Time for a Autumn update,
Trains have run, scenery has progressed slowly,
Lego buildings have been made and dismantled by me or weather- long story
So here’s some pictures which everybody loves.
The exchange sidings full of open wagons awaiting loading
Another view, when it comes to choosing freight wagons, the policy is just buy wherever looks nice

Testing the length of a recently installed siding, it’s long enough, and can easily fit in 5 wagons without the loco.

Todays update.
Rebuilt the gravel loader, the last one got destroyed in to many pieces, as it’s Lego and windy weather don’t mix.
Intend to start glueing and adding foamboard, now I’m happy with the dimensions.
Have the shell of the building in ok e was an excuse to get out lots of wagons for testing
This area has been named “The exchange sidings”
So as part of the testing decided to see how many wagons it could fit,
Looking the other way, towards the gravel loader
The long sidings give me a great excuse to buy loads of wagons to fill them!

It’s been a year since my last update, the railway hasn’t been idle, I’ve just forgotten to update post photos
So here’s the first run of 2023! Hopefully will be able to post a lot more photos this year
the loco is currently running with a battery wagon, as space is snug for onboard batteries.
It’s on the never ending todo list!

Excellent photos and impressive sidings. I'm sure lots of members would gladly do an exchange for them!
Am I right in thinking that the yellows open wagons have had the brakeman's platforms removed?

One of my like to do battery jobs, reckon a split pack either side of boiler would work. 6AA each side, cab be hidden by plasticard to.
Latest train update!
Despite a lack of updates, trains have run and things have happened,
The line has invested in its first electric loco, it’s a fantastic beast and looks amazing running round the garden,
I’ve also acquired the second set of iron ore wagons, which now fitted with metal give a very pleasing sound over the rail joints,
The full set of iron ore wagons just fits in some of the loops, so will need careful planning when in use as to where to stable them.
Another issue that has become apparent is that running electric locos on a line not built for them is the clearance issue for the pantograph, but this will be fixed in due time with fishing wire

In the meantime a pan push down should help, stiff wire bent up from the tunnel either side to above pan greatest height works well. Around a foot or so either side of the tunnel. Fitting may be a task but if you can manage to drill a couple of holes for brass screws so you have something to solder to. Will give you a good start for when you do the full thing overhead wire wise.
