Re:A new and as yet un-named garden railway

Since the last update major progress has been made,

Namely following the recent bout of sunny weather, A rather large and extensive land grab has happened:D

This has added about 80ft of running line, and opened up lots of new possibilties and ideas

Also the complex junction has been further tweaked and is currently in its final state- I think

2 items of rolling stock have also passed through the workshops, One was a 4 wheeled passenger coach that has been rebuilt from its previous poor condition to a open 4 wheeled wagon, It is currently awaiting paintly after its conversion.

Its also unique in having a platform at both ends of the wagon

The other item was a tatty LGB 4 wheeled christmas coach, that was going to be repainted into a crane support vehicle, but following the purchase of the wrong colour paint and I quite like it its been kept in passenger service,

It even gained contrasting colour doors for visually impaired people:D

Also James was taken along to to a recent g scale society open day, and caused a few comments as he trundled round with a rake of bachmann bogie tankers

Re:A new and as yet un-named garden railway

Since the last update there as been more changes and also progress in construction.

The changes were mainly due to listening to a certain PaulRhb who after persauded me to remove the R1 point and go for lots of big curves. :D

So before changes happened

After changes with lots of R3 points and R5 curves

Ive also laid about 15ft worth of concrete embankment, but photos will follow in the next update

All in one go? They are paying you too much! ;)

Looks much better and it opens up a lot more possibilities for bigger stock and longer trains.

Oh forgot to say, LIKE the name ;)

You can reuse the R1 too for a mining branch or military railway, re-open the Porton Down system as something a bit different as a feeder line, good excuse for an interchange station.

Re:A new and as yet un-named garden railway

Its been a long time since my last update but Ive been busy doing lots of stuff including experiencing a coal fired live steamer :)
see here http://www.gscalecentral.net/Peacemarsh-to-Colesbrook-on-a-sunny-day-m237028 < Link To http://www.forum.gscalece...sunny-day-m237028

Progress on my railway as been slightly slow, mainly due the fact I keep laying track, and then promptly change my mind, as you may spot a slight change in the track work in the photos.

The trains are out for testing purposes to test the size of the loop at the new station.

Photo 1 shows the new revised junction layout, its considerably less complex than before, but the main running line is now R5 minimum radius, all and the point are now r3.

Photo 2

Shows a side view of the station and also the new concrete embankment, which gives a lovely smooth ride, compared to just laying track down on dirt.

Photo 3

Here is a view in the station, with an otto arriving with the luxury passenger coaches, while the stainz waits to leave.

Photo 4
Shows a possible version of pointwork for the statoin as the stainz hauls a short train of open wagons away.

The trackwork has changed again since I took the photos but photos will follow soon, and I also need to get a move on and finish the running loop, as I may have ordered myself a live steamer for christmas :)

Re:A new and as yet un-named garden railway

Its been a while since my last update but lots of progress has been made on several fronts :)

The station has been redesigned again
More locos have been acquired including a live steamer :)
More rolling stock has been acquired and modified
A large feature bridge has been built trial built and awaits fettling and finishing
The main running loop is approaching completion

The bridge- Its just L section metal, 10mm threaded bar, and 30mm hdpe water pipe

The new rolling stock- 2 toytrain wagons with removed balconies with gives them a more English appearance
e14b711107654a7f8ec71e6eaab9d387.jpg

And the new loco under construction
Its an otto, with the cab mover back as far as possible, boiler fittings removed and a new bogie tender under construction.
Its very roughly based on the south african ng15 tender loco.

Re:A new and as yet un-named garden railway

The bolster wagons and brakevan are all the standard LGB toytrain wagons, and they seem seem to fit perfecty behind the bachmann loco

Re:A new and as yet un-named garden railway

Dan, I was looking at the pics of your shortened "Totrain" gondolas. Did you only remove the balcony platform, or was there more cutting involved? The coupler, on the balcony end, seems like it would protrude too far if you did nothing but remove the platform.
