View media item 2345View media item 2346The new SBLR Goods Shed is coming along. The main Shed is an outdoor ply frame sealed and painted with a covering of kitchen tile 'bricks'. These will be given a masonry paint wash. The office extension is foamboard which will be weathered red brick. Roofs will be grey, rusting corrugated iron. Woodwork will be GWR light and dark stone.

Now just have to create the Goods yard.......

Are kitchen time bricks a tiling product? They look like they are a realistic scale size for stonework.

Yes. They're from Lowe's here in the US. They used to sell some that looked even better, but they've been discontinued. These are ok but I really should have removed the darker ones.

Have they got a trade name, I don't think I've seen them over here. They look pretty good, even their colouring looks like the right sort of shading.

Luckily I had some gutter strip left over from a GRS station building, so was able to use that. Otherwise I was going to slice some plasticard tube!

I think I remember that English gutters are usually half-round. Over here they are rectangular cross section I have tried brass and styrene channel. Irrespective, I've never figured a solid way of attaching them to the barge board. Any hints?
 
Yes, the U.K. Gutters were mostly half round although I used to have some fairly elaborate cast iron ones on some old buildings!

The GRS plastic are half round with a tab on one side. That makes attachment easy.

Otherwise I've used channel or split tube and attached them with a silicone glue smear along one edge.

I've also thought, but not done it, of drilling small holes along the top edge on one side and using pins to attach, with the silicone glue.

Solistone it cool. Will get some today for a water tank base and some retaining walls. Been wanting something like that for years. Thanks again.
