Well. it's official, the Claptowte Railway freight stock can now be called award winning. It's many years since I last entered any of my models for a competition but this year I decided to enter the annual G Scale Society modelling competition, part of the G-Rail festivities at Stafford. Class 2 is the rolling stock category, anything that rolls on rail. The category is sub divided into scratch built and modified propriety/kit built. The winner in each category receives a certificate and then goes head to head for the trophy. A rake of up to five vehicles can be entered. I decided to enter five of the Claptowte Railway freight wagons in the modified propriety category. I selected one of the cattle vans (No 21), the tarpaulin wagon (No 9), the tank wagon (No 25), the empty coal wagon (No 1) and one of the milk vans (N0 34). In the face of some fierce competition from some stunning models, some might say against the odds, they actually won the class. To say I am pleased is something of an understatement.

well done - they earned it
in good company too :)

Thank you, if you are referring to that monstrous edifice behind my wagons, yes, the boy done well. Mike took the prize for best building and it won the trophy for the overall 'Best in Show'. Of course, had it not won, he could always have used it as a summerhouse in the garden.

We did get together for a bit of a pose.

Nice one....

Both of you have well deserved acclaim and both from this Forum as well. Great to see the awards given to projects that we have seen described in here. What more can I say?

Yes, both Forumites deserve the accolades. Only thing I'd add would be "Don't rest on your Laurels lads - we want more of your excellent builds and conversions" (selfish mode off).
