This locomotive is basically just a repaint of the LGB 23590 Austrian OBB HF130 0-6-0 diesel locomotive. It came with a factory fitted decoder, so no electrical modification was required.

From the box, the model carries a wealth of detail, such as separately fitted handrails, panel handles and catches, lifting lugs, etc., so virtually no extra detailing was necessary.

The model, prior to repainting.

I began by stripping down the model into its component parts and where necessary these were given a coat of spray grey plastic primer.

For a corporate livery, for the diesel fleet, I chose a colour scheme of black underframes, green bodywork and, for the roofs, the same BR maroon coaching stock roof grey as used on the passenger coaches. The green that I chose is PlastiKote RAL6005 satin Hunt Green. As with the steam locomotives, the buffer beams were finished in red. The cab interior is painted in BR cream.

Once the painting had been completed, I applied etch brass name and number places, sourced from Custom Nameplate Studio.

The only physical changes to the model were to the buffer beams, as follows. The model is produced with a nicely moulded screw link coupling and hook, either side of the buffer beam. As no other item of rolling stock, on the Claptowte Railway, has this arrangement, for the sake of continuity, I omitted this item when I reassembled the model, after painting. What I did add was a pair of LGB Toy Train brake hoses, from the spares box. This was again for continuity as these brake hoses are pretty much standard across the entire fleet of Claptowte Railway vehicles.
