I have finished my platforms, so spent the day playing at designing Buxus Station to sit on it, Arch in the middle between the station masters house and what will be a booking office doesn't look right yet, but I can play all I want on the PC till I get the look I want :) Benches I know are wrong but I already had it as a 3d model, so used that to get an idea what they would look like. I used 12mm tall text for the station name boards which looks about right ? so just got to see if I can find some 12mm plastic letters now.

This weeks update working on Buxus Station buildings, started on the Station masters house, changed the windows from my computer model of it, to narrow windows as it looked better, was thinking of making all the windows but might cheat and just buy them yet :D

Buxus Station update..Roofers have been in at last as well as the Painters so some progress, might be ready for Summer at this rate :sweating:

Decided to make my own doors rather than buying them 4 done one more to go . Now just need 18 Windows , or it could be a lord Beecham station and I could board them up :D Wife wanted the back to have all it's windows as well, even thought it's not going to be easy ever to see the back of the station.

train 29-01-17-8.jpg

Also added all the dividing walls to the buildings, so I can add lights just to the Rooms I want rather than every window lighting up, painted the internal doors in as well just in case you can see them when it's lit up. The Station masters house main roof will be removable to get at the upper level lights so the upper ceilings are removable to change LED's if need be. Add in case you are wondering yes all the internal white surfaces are all painted I use white primer and base coats.

The Wife bought me two LGB street lights still need to convince her that the bases need cutting off :) They still look big to me but there again there isn't a real one around me to measure.

Depends on what you are looking for sid..I've seen older gas lamps in real life that are massive and smaller replicas...there are better scale lights out there..no dought but I already had 20 odd lgb ones.. so.. I refurbished the lgb ones to warm yellow leds..cut the base of as I said. Have u looked on evilbay for 00 lamps.. I've used O gauge ones around the church..20161005_185321.jpg 20161011_185327.jpg

Thanks will have a search Mike, as I only have two LGB ones it might be worth thinking about alternatives before I cut them, as they are not the cheapest to buy lots of them :) even on Evilbay secondhand they fetch nearly as much as new ones do.

Garden Railway Specialists have Busch lamps in stock - two for £20.60 - I use the lamps on my trailer layout.

Brought some Roundhouse ones from Chalk Garden Rail recently.

Cast metal, and hopefully squirrel proof.

Haven't got around to building them yet though....

Found them but couldn't find them CGR are they 16mm or G scale ? funny how you wish you had built in 16mm scale once you find out how many accessories are available for 16mm :) Lots of squirrels here , so far they just sit on the fence and look at what's being built, The wife thinks they will test the first building I put out..

You're just going to take a stand and throw the nuts back at them!

I'll measure a lamp this morning and take a pic!

Found them, are they 16mm or G scale ?....

Not sure exactly, but they should pass the 4 ft rule?

16mm and G scale are 1 to 19 and 1 to 22.5, so most accessories will work with both scales....

Here's a pic - they come in a dark brown or a green.

Overall height 185mm
Column to underside of lantern 125mm
Square Base 21mm

Mine are glued down. Top of lantern (attic) comes off to swap the screw-in bulbs. Rated voltage as supplied 14 - 16v

I like the Playmobil lamp posts. They seem to be a bit more robust than the LGB variety.

And at £4.75 each a good deal cheaper. (They were £4 when first introduced, but the falling £ has had an effect.)
