The NYC F-3's look fantastic, & pulling that train of Santa-Fe coaches they look gorgeous.
I must press on with developing my NYC side of my layout.

Thanks Garry, I must get around to changing the nameboards to NYC, never enough time

Yep usual holiday weekend weather, why anyone thinks its random is silly its all contrived and arranged with shop owners who want our money and its a deal done with the tax man,
so another weekend in the shed, I did get the old bachman annie converted to track power though, fairly easy only added a set of metal tender wheels to the project, should run well on the clubs indoor track, once I worked out which were the motor leads it was pretty fast job, the pick ups were bent from nickel wires and I used old batteries for ballast, I kept the old r/c unit so in the future may get the sound unit working again most of it was missing like the control fob,

the loco managed to climb up to the top of the branch ran a bit jerky, but as I never clean the rails that was ok
I also completed my wheel replacement on my USA train loco's , I got new replacement wheelsets from resin'de in Northsheilds, I got to the stage of worrying about destroying my gearboxes on locos with rubber tyred drives, as if they stall with a good lot of boxcars behind' the axles or crown wheels disintigrate, with all metal wheels they have a chance as the loco will slide during stall,I used a pair of screw drivers under the trucks to help chane out the wheelsets

Good idea Pete putting track power to the old Bachmann loco using metal wheels on the tender
Havn't used mine for years last time was when i was building my line when i had no electrics the sound unit never worked very well so i took it out and used the speaker in my Aristo U25B loco with a DALLEE sound chip .

thanks for the tipabout the U boat, mine is at the very back of the queu for rebuild after the gearboxes mushed up, as its in a dubiuos S fE PAINT IT MAY BE THERE FOR A WHILE,unless there is anyone with a NH body to swap,or ??

Old batteries as ballast - won't there be a problem later when the batteries start to corrode and leak that blue gunge?

Hopefully they dont leak as they are nicads but if the loco gets used then maybe a load of plaster tipped in the boiler would work better,

I finally started rebuilding the loop again after a sixmonth impass, I also decided to use electricians tray plate and unistrut componants as the track is not really visible, was quick and easy to assemble, and easier than timber, should take aprt as easily as well when I move/if , I think my camera is on its way out, sorry about the bright images,

Hi Pete good to see some more track going down
Have you got track running through the farmers field next door:thinking:

Funnily enough when the landlord chopped all the trees down instead of taking the branches away he put a new fence around the pile,,I chucked the lot over the fence into his field and aquired the extra bit ground, I will use the rest of the area for fruit bushes

Oddly enough its almost silent, I had expected it to be a bit rattly , it cost around eight quid a length for three metres, I was going to cut some shed felt into strips and put under the track but I dont think I will there, I am going to use tray for the next section along the front of the garden wall,

Hi Pete
Looks like a good run you've got there. Never thought of using tray,is it any noisier than running on wood?

Not been a wonderful weekend here but got a bit more done this week,
pleased with the new track to the tunnel, I have ordered more Tray Plate for the rest of the wall run, and looking at the bridge for the gateway again, I saw this bridge years ago on a photo and liked it so may base it on this,
If anyone is coming to Cornwall Lizard area for a holiday let me know, you are welcome to visit the railway , apart from the tunnel there are no restrictions on height, steam /battery welcome, I have still a basic analog working on some sections,

Tony's Mallet has been well used , I have been using it as a test loco for the new sections of track, now got a list of track that needs attention ,
