Evening all. I think I've found the cheapest supplier of LGB wire for outdoor use. Tony Green Steam. But his website is down, so in the meantime, does anyone know of any LGB wire at a competitive price. This is to replace the wire I mistakenly used years ago, which is turning to dust..... LGB just works and lasts years outside.

Thanks

What wire did you use before? LGB wire isn't anything special other than the massive mark-up they put on it to brand it LGB. Heavy duty speaker cable works well.

That's what I used, a spool of two-wire heavy speaker cable from Maplins (RIP)... :)

Speaker wire will most likely be ordinary PVC..

Out in the garden, you need something UV rated, else it will breakdown.

You can get a low voltage UV rated cable for LED garden lights.
Robust, and made to live in the great outdoors.

Well, the insulating material isn't simple PVC (no, I don't know precisely what is). It does survive well under direct sunlight, which is not a characteristic of common PVC covered cables.
Just buy exterior rated speaker cable which you can buy a decent length drum of rather than the short lengths from LGB.

Or run it in conduit :)

Sorry everyone. Didn't get any notifications on this thread of any of the replies. I just bought something from Wickes years ago, can't remember exactly.

Poly irrigation pipe is what I use in stead of conduit.
It can be buried and using the fittings can keep water out.
Comes in 2 sizes 12mm and 19mm.
Tip if you do use it lie it out in the sun and it will soften enough to overcome the natural "roll memory"
Get it from any garden centre or hardware store with a garden section.
