Excellent work, Henri. Exactly the way I build in the real world, stick by stick. By the way, what is the black material, looks like paint, on the joints ?
Pickle is probably not far from correct, I believe one of the expressions in the old days used on the Railway was to Pickle Sleepers before they were used.Aha! I see! I think this is for 'garden' wood as we call it in the Netherlands (Pressure treated timber).
The timer I use is not treated, just plain pinewood.
Scaffolding boards are extremely popular over here and I got some specific paint for this kind of timber. It is very 'thin' and impregnates into the timber. It is also slightly clear so the texture of the wood is still visible. I tried to look up the English word for this kind of 'paint' but the Google translate suggestions are pretty funny so I think it isn't correct. We call it 'Beits' and Google translates it into 'Pickle'. Yeah right!
Like pickled onionsPickle is probably not far from correct, I believe one of the expressions in the old days used on the Railway was to Pickle Sleepers before they were used.

Looking good Henri, I've really enjoyed watching your building coming to life over the past months. You're obviously very talented.
