I'm trying to sort a reverse loop for a friend and I think I've sorted it. Attached is a very rough plan and I think I should cut the rails at the red lines and put the reverse loop between them. Am I right?

YES!

Only alternative would be to have the "loop" section entirely on the curve on which your rightmost red line sits. I guess that you've already IDed that it would be too short for a typical train?

YES!

In the case of the loop being short, then you coould move your track breaks further away as per this amendment to your diagram.

If you are digital, a Massoth Reversal Module would be required to change the polarity.

Analogue is feasible, albeit more complex, and Neil will have the best solutions, dependant on your requirements....

Thanks for that confirmation. I have been looking at this for some while and then on Sunday morning, after a good cooked breakfast, I had that eureka moment. Just need to implement it but won't be visiting there for a while. Which is better, the Massoth double break system or the original single break type?

Massoth double break. Their module can be used either way, but in the "predictive" mode you avoid the sparking between wheels and track and shocks to the DCC central station inevitable with the original version.

Yes i have the massoth one with predictive operation in my triangle you just have to double up on some of the switch track wires.
