In that case I need to repair it. For some strange reason one bogie jumps the track when it is running straight and level.
It only happens in one direction.

I bought it s/h around 8yrs ago and on arrival one bogie appeared to be turning as if it was mounted on an old threepenny piece ie in jerks!
Mike D resolved it, perhaps it is the same problem resurfacing.

I think the colour you are after is RAL1011 - the brown coaches are in pre 1949 livery.

I am inclined to agree with Paradise that the passenger car colour is more like RAL2000 yellow/orange, the RAL1011 brown/beige is more like the brown of goods wagons. But it does depend on whether the pictures are taken in bright sunlight.

The discussions (in German) don't seem to discuss the brown colour but they do cover the red of the bicycle storage van.

EDIT: I have ordered some RAL 1011 so we'll see what it looks like.

Yes, the colour in pictures can be deceptive. Some are taken on drab looking days and some are in bright sunlight. Looking from brown to orange. The colour is probably somewhere in between the two images below.

RAL2001 could even be a close match for the drab lighting shots above and below.

The top Zenner car below looks like the lighting is fairly neutral. Still doesn't give us a paint colour though and the RGB samples from the wikipedia RB colours link above won't necessarily be exactly like paint anyway. I've recently been involved in colour space programming and it gets extremely complex in they way our eyes intemperate colour and how various colour spaces work. RGB and pigments don't easily convert to one another.

I think that you are right to try different colours. The points to note are that the colours fade with age - effects of weathering, it also depends on whether you are modelling freshly painted stock. My photo was from a visit to Rugen where the coaches had been stored out in the open for some time. There were a number of differences in shades of colour especially with the green stock.
