Red Flag Warning

Shawn

Hiking, cross country skiing, snowshoeing
Red Flag Warnings went up today. Conditions were just right for wildfires. Temps in the mid 80's, low humidity and winds 10-15mph. The guys got the fire cars hooked up and were ready to fight any fires that started. The Forest Service had the fire tower up today.

Fueling up at the yard and waiting for any smoke.

Second fire of the day on top of the Cumberland Gorge. This was close to the tracks and the trestle.

Close call, fire almost got crossed the tracks and came close to getting the cars. The guys almost lost this one.

At Camp Kittatinny taking a lunch break until the next call.

Cracking stuff :thumbup::thumbup:

Is that bottle in the background for starting the fires, or for putting them out? :rolf:

Great shots hope you had your hose on stand by

Very sharp Shawn. Red Flag here in TN also! A change from the cold and snow just over a month ago!

Very strange year. We went from record snow in the month of feb, to record rain in march and now record temps. Just after Itook these pictures I got called to a 105 acre fire on the ridge here. Didnt get off the ridge until 11 at night. Of course it had to be on the steepest side of the ridge. Last nights rains took care of the hot spots.

Be careful out there Shawn....

Also to Tony above, there was a lot of wood fire tanks here in the US, they actually hold up better than a steel one, ditto with wood beam constructed buildings. Wood chars, while steel bends....

Obviously not a total fire ban day

And a bar car. Very important that one.

What must it be like to have that much space?
Like the "involvedness" of the layout and stock.
Its also given me an idea or two, perhaps I could scratchbuild an ambulance wagon to deal with hypothermia and frostbite, a brazier car to warm the local itinerants!!!!!!!!!

It is nice to have 9 acres but not fun paying taxes on it and mowing it. It does give me endless options for expansion
