railmotor kit?

anyone seen a railmotor kit or similar, seen one based on a stainz chassis, but no idea who makes

Brandbright do a railcar, not sure if this what you are looking for.

I have seen several od these Ian but I think they are one offs made with an old LGB coach. You might have to get the saw out!

If you want to kitbash something based on a Stainz chassis and a starter set coach, then this is my rendition of a Chimseebahn car.

That's lovely, Tim - I don't suppose you have any photos of the build-up of it, do you?

Jon,
sadly, no build photographs. The coach body is around 3/8" shorter than the stock Stainz chassis, so I had to shorten the chassis to suit the body. In reality, the Stainz chassis on the prototype is the correct length, so the coach body should be lengthened to suit the loco chassis. Alyn, 'the mole' lengthened the coach body on his version.

Here is my version running on my railway with a few coaches adapted for the tram loco. Sadly, the set was onsold to make way for further purchases.

Now that's a great idea. I've always liked railmotors that were two-ended to avoid turning. But the single ended ones are a problem - I love your solution!

Feel free, Greg - I probably pinched the idea off someone else - but you're right, I too didn't fancy building turntables at each end of the line. This is my first venture into battery power using one of those cheapo key fob controllers designed for dimming LEDs.
